چکیده

The dissolution behaviour of dissociated cellulosic materials – nanocrystalline, nanofibrillated, and microfibrillated specimen – in the analytically important system N,N-dimethylacetamide/ lithium chloride (DMAc/ LiCl) was investigated by means of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with multiple detection. The impact of water present in the samples was addressed by Karl Fischer titration and solvent exchange experiments. Generally, dissolution of dissociated cellulosics is severely impeded as compared to their starting materials. This is most likely a consequence of the high-surface-area fibrils or crystals that are capable of retaining comparatively high amounts of water. With the increased understanding of the forces that hinder cellulose dissolution in DMAc/ LiCl and how to overcome them provided by this study, future molecular analysis of dissociated cellulosics are expected to become more reliable facilitating quality control of production procedures.

The Impact of Nano-fluid Concentration Used as an Engine Coolant on the Warm-up Timing

Running the industrial components at a proper temperature is always a big challenge for engineers. Internal combustion engines are among these components in which temperature plays a big role in their performance and emissions. With the development of new technology in the fields of ‘nano-materials’ and ‘nano-fluids’, it seems very promising to use this technology as a coolant in the interna...

Study Effect of Deformation Nanochannel Wall Roughness on The Water-Copper Nano-Fluids Poiseuille Flow Behavior

In the nanochannel flow behavior with respect to expand their applications in modern systems is of utmost importance. According to the results obtained in this study, the condition of nonslip on the wall of the nanochannel is not acceptable because in the nano dimensions, slip depends on different parameters including surface roughness. In this study, keeping the side area roughness, deformatio...

Chemical interactions between Nano-ZnO and Nano-TiO2 in a natural aqueous medium.

The use of diverse engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) potentially leads to the release of multiple ENMs into the environment. However, previous efforts to understand the behavior and the risks associated with ENMs have focused on only one material at a time. In this study, the chemical interactions between two of the most highly used ENMs, nano-TiO2, and nano-ZnO, were examined in a natural water ...

Dissolution Processes at Step Edges of Calcite in Water Investigated by High-Speed Frequency Modulation Atomic Force Microscopy and Simulation.

The microscopic understanding of the crystal growth and dissolution processes have been greatly advanced by the direct imaging of nanoscale step flows by atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical interferometry, and X-ray microscopy. However, one of the most fundamental events that govern their kinetics, namely, atomistic events at the step edges, have not been well understood. In this study, we h...
